Un messagio per tutti

Chiunque chi vuole capire l'inglese di più deve imparare l'italiano. È non soltanto la lingua d'amore (e la lingua più bella), ma aiuta realmente con la grammatica inglese.

Now ... head off to Babel Fish, if you must. If you don't need to, say so in comments perché io voglio parlare in italiano con te. (And, yes, this definitely has something to do with writing ... in English.)

Show-off, says Gringy.

And so what if I am? :)

  • Buon punto!

    Show-off. (I'm standing behind Gringy - neener-neener-neener!)

You're right, of course -- "Anyone who wants to understand English more must learn the Italian." Comprehensive studies of the Romance languages will vastly improve one's grasp of English.

  • Anche ho pensato che il mio punto e` stato buono. (I though my point was good too.) [Okay, I admit, I've gone beyond the confines of showing-off. I'll stop. Adesso.]

You're right. Any of the Romance languages will help. I just think Italian happens to be the best language ever in the history of human existence, so I like to promote it ... It's a dying language, believe it or not, because English is infiltrating it.

English is mainly Germanic and Latin. Latin in words, Germanic in sentences grammar (I believe). So if you knew both Latin and German, you'd be good to go. But Italian is a dialect gone-awry of Latin, and it's modern, so it can be used, and its pluralizations really help with English ... so why learn Latin? Plus, it never hurts to be multi-lingual.

  • Concordo.

I, alas, am but a Philistine, fluent only in English. And even that's debatable sometimes. I know where the language translators are, though. Is that cheating?

I'd hate to think of the Italian language dying out. It's such a mellifluous, beautiful tongue.
